“Negotiations for Albania will not be opened by imposing conditions about refugee camps. That would be unfair”, said in an interview for Deutsche Welle the rapporteur for Albania at the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein.
Fleckenstein confirms that there are clear signals from the German chancellor Merkel that they will vote in favor of Albania’s EU accession negotiations.
“The conditions would be about the Vetting process and the need to prove that the judicial reform will go on, and that it is not being done simply to give green light to the negotiations”, he said. When asked about other conditions, such as the refugee camps, Fleckenstein asid:
“I cannot exclude it, but I cannot imagine it, because I don’t know the details”, he added.
