EU about Rama’s speech in Kosovo: “Such declarations don’t help”

“The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, suggested on the 10th anniversary of independence that Albania and Kosovo should have a common president. This sounds like a Greater Albania project. Is there any comment from the Commission for possible changes in Balkan?”

“Declarations that could be interpreted as political interventions in neighbouring countries don’t help to build good relations between neighbours. The EU expects the entire region to keep building constructive relations between countries, and an intensifying work with the reforms, in order to continue with the European integration”, said the EU Spokesperson Catherine Ray.

“EU has always supported regional cooperation and reconciliation in Western Balkan. The European Council has reiterated firm support for the European perspective in Western Balkan, and we will keep working with these countries”, she added.
