The US Congressman, Eliot Engel, said for Radio Free Europe that the visa liberalization for Kosovo should have taken place.
The US official said that regardless the border demarcation with Montenegro; the citizens of Kosovo deserve equal rights with citizens of other countries.
Engel said that the approach of Serbia towards Kosovo has been destructive, and that Belgrade has stabbed Prishtina in the back several times.
“They have been able to keep Kosovo outside the UN, and have intervened together with Russia in UNESCO when we thought that the accession would take place”, Engel declared.
The Congressman said he was in favor of America’s involvement in the dialogue, which, according to him, would protect the citizens’ rights.
