The EU-Albania meeting of the Committee of Stabilization and Association in Brussels has ended. Parties expressed their respective stances on the country’s performance regarding political and economical criteria, the implementation of Stabilization and Association Agreement, business competition of European standards, energy and human rights protection.

One day before, Top-Channel published the confidential Commission stance on the discussion matters. Main concerns regard the lacking of politic dialogue. The Commission recommends avoiding harsh rhetoric and a normal functioning of the parliament. A real observance of the government control was recommended and also a protocol reviewing of the Parliamentary protocol, with the consensus of all parties.

European Union expects free and democratic local elections and after the elections, they expect the main political forces to work on the necessary Election Code amendments, based on the OSCE and ODIHR recommendations.

Besides the persistent demands for reforms and impartiality of the judicial system, especially on the Meta-Prifti video, January 21st tragic events and Roma families’ eviction, EU also demanded finding the culprits without political interference in the justice system.

EU stance doesn’t change on the public administration reforms, the war against corruption, organized crime, human rights protection and on the matter of property compensation.

As for the media, EU expects concrete facts from the government on the war against unjust pressures and the avoidance of double standards on this sector.

One worth mentioning positive note is the Albanian travelers’ monitoring report, after lifting the visa requirements. It seems that Albanians haven’t abused so far.

Although the Albanian part was notified on the Commission’s stance, they have given no information about the Albanian representative’s stance. The only official announcement was that there will be no press conference after this meeting.
