The Prosecution of Tirana questioned the leaders of the Democratic party, Lulzim Basha, Gazmend Bardhi, Ilir Dervishi and Arben Ristani about the the Biniata Trade lobbying scandal in the USa.
The Prosecution said that the object of the investigation is the truthfulness if the money spent by the Democratic Party for the electoral campaign of 2017.
The investigation raised doubts about the huge difference between the money that the Democratic Party declared they spent ($25.000), and the real total payment ($650.000).
The investigations held in USA and Scotland shows the money that were paid for the service that was received by the Democratic Party, but that they haven’t declared, which could signal wrongdoing.
One of the payments was done by a Foreign Company, Biniatta Trade.
The Democratic Party reacted aby saying that the Prosecution is being used politically by the government propaganda. Basha appeared today at the Prosecution, although he had refused it a few days ago.
