DP demands government to explain why they weren’t invited at EU-Albanian council

The Democratic party says that the Socialist government has broken the tradition of the last five years, in which the opposition has been present during the annual meetings of the EU-Albania Stabilization-Association Council meeting.

The opposition demands the government to explain this decision, and asks to approve a mandatory law that will allow the opposition to be part of the EU meetings.

“The EU process has no owners and no one benefits politically. It has been a priority for the DP, that’s why the opposition has been allowed in every travel. What happened last week was an unprecedented effort to silence the opposition”, said Jorida Tabaku, Democratic Party MP.

Blendi Cuci, from the Socialist Party, said that the only thing to be commented from that meeting is that Albania received very positive evaluations from the EU for the fight against organized crime and the fight against cannabis plantations. As for the format, Cuci agreed that they should ask the Foreign Minister Bushati to change it. a
