The marathon trial for the Portëzë Election Commissioners finally came
to an end. The Court of Fier fined each of the commissioners with
500,000 ALL for boycotting the voting process in Central Elections 2009.

After more than 50 sessions against the commissioners that should have been participating in the voting process for the villages Plyke and Kraps, the judge panel directed by Pirro Sota decided to fine each of them with 500,000 ALL. These citizens were accused of abandoning their duty in the voting process.

The decision of the 6 commissioners for not participating in the voting process came after several protests held by the residents of four villages Mbyet, Plyke, Kraps and Lalar, part of the Porteze commune. The residents protested for the road that connected these villages, which had been neglected for many years by the government.

The residents had declared that they would boycott Central Elections June 28th 2009, a promise that they kept in the Election Day. The commissioners joined the protest and left the voting centers, for which now were punished by the Court of Fier.
