Business “lashes” government

The Albanian Prime Minister praised war against corruption during the last observation for the indicators of business and consumer trust.

But the indicators of war against corruption and informal economy are not to be praised as much as the Prime Minister pretends. On the contrary, other sources with evident credibility and integrity indicate that corruption is a phenomenon that continues to be one of the main factors that are penalizing the Albanian economy.

During the last observation of business and consumer trust, Bank of Albania states that although there is a small growth of 0.4%, this indicator remains under the long-term average.

The observation of Bank of Albania, which analyses expectancies of each economy sector, says that the trust indicator in this industry has fallen with 6.9 percentage points compared to the first trimester. The observation says that the presence of corruption and informal economy has been evaluated by the industries as the main factor that has impeded their progress.

Even service sector sees corruption as a great obstacle for their activities. The observation of Bank of Albania says that the domestic political crisis is a factor that has penalized business, but corruption remains an important indicator.

The indicators of business trust are measured by direct questions made to enterprises through a questionnaire, and are among the most important indicators that cannot be easily bypassed by any government, because information in this case is directly taken from the real economy, not from the Ministry offices. This is also one of most credible indicators that help predicting modern economy around the world.
