The Minister of Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, met in Brussels with the EU Commissioner for Migration and Interior Affairs, Dimitris Avramopoulos.
The declaration coming from the Interior Ministry says that the Commissioner congratulated the measures taken so far and the results achieved with the fight against cannabis, with the integrated border management, which has the purpose to interrupt illegal migration and asylum seekers, and with the fight against organized crime.
“Albania is an important factor of stability in the region. A good neighbor of the country I come from, and a future member of the European family. Our main discussion points were emigration, refugee crisis, our joint fight against terror, radicalization and organized crime”, Avramopoulos said.
Minister Xhafaj thanked the Commissioner for the support he gives Albania.
“I hope and I trust that under his care, with his support, we are going to take important steps related to the fight against organized crime, treatments of illegal emigration and a series of other matters concerning us in our EU integration path”, he declared.
