Prime Minister Sali Berisha is staying in Brussels not only to
participate at the important political meeting of European People’s
Parties, but also to be present at the Krans Montana Forum for
Azerbaijan, a country that is turning into an international important factor, due to tis oil and natural gas reserves.

Prime Minister Berisha presented Albania’s potentials in this forum and invited the businesses to invest, especially in hydropower plants.

“German Chancellor’s latest decision; the latest referendum in Italy; all of these against nuclear power; make hydropower sources in Albania very useful for the investors. The energy market is and will remain the market with the greatest demand. Albania has another great advantage. The geographical position makes this country very convenient for turning it into a great energy production and distribution center. Albania has strong wind platforms, known all over Europe. Albania has all possibilities for becoming a small energetic superpower in the region”, Berisha declared.

Presenting Albania’s potentials as an invitation for the investors, Prime Minister Berisha mentioned in Krans Montana Forum some new studies on our country’s natural reserves.

“Albania has great natural reserves, in an international scale, in chrome, oil, nickel and steel. Studies made by world’s most serious groups show that Bulqiza remains one of biggest chrome areas on Earth, and Marinza has around 6 million barrels of oil reserves. This is one of the greatest oil fields in the continent”, Berisha declared.

One of Albania’s main goals is to get involved in the Trans-Adriatic gas line project, which starts in Azerbaijan and supplies Western Europe through the Adriatic Sea.

Prime Minister Berisha met Azerbaijan’s President for this issue, who guaranteed that will support the plan that sends the oil pipe through Albania.

According to the Prime Minister, the realization of these projects and the utilization of these potentials aim to turn Albania into a developed country until 2017.
