Head of Foreign Policy for the European Union, Catherine Ashton, asked the Albanian parties to conclude the Election Process.
Ashton: Not surprising too, we want to see swift conclusion of electoral process in Bosnia Herzegovina and Albania. In Albania the situation is particularly worrying. We want to see the immediate restoration of political dialogue and a new focus on reform.
Asked by Top Channel after the Luxembourg meeting, Ashton underlined that there are still some matters remaining with the guarantees, how it will be performed.
Ashton: I think there are 2 things; firstly the electoral process has not been completed yet. You know that there are some issues about making sure this is done properly and that whom else must be engaged in insuring that’s done. Once we know the result of that, we will have to decide how best we can talk with Albanian government and opposition, about what needs to happen next. So, right now I can just say that I’d like very much to see a very orderly move forward in openness and transparency and the electoral process to be completed effectively.
