The Socialist Party parliamentary group will raise criminal charges in the Tirana Prosecutor office against Minister of Home Affairs, Lulëzim Basha, and two high-rank police officers: General State Police Chief Hysni Burgaj and Tirana Police Chief Saimir Muça, accusing them of intentional murder during the January 21 demonstrations.

The socialists base their charges on what the Penal Code provides against the murder of two or more citizens, the injuring and putting at risk the life of many others.

The criminal charge is signed by the majority of the socialist deputies and will be deposited to the Prosecutors Office.

On January 21, during the demonstration held on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, three demonstrators lost their lives in front of the Prime Minister’s office: Ziver Veizi, Faik Myrtaj and Hekuran Deda, while the fourth victim, Aleks Nikaj, died some days later due to a fire arm wound.

This case is also under the General Prosecutor Office investigation, while the Democratic Party on power also created an investigation group on its behalf, which disappeared from the scene after international calls for not interfering with the Prosecutor’s Office competences.
