The political leaders of Albania congratulated their counterparts in Macedonia for passing the Constitutional amends that change their country’s name to Northern Macedonia, removing this way every obstacle on their path towards NATO and the EU.

The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, chose an expression of Nelson Mandela: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” He added that “The vote by Macedonia’s Parliament on constitutional changes is a major step towards implementation of the Prespa Agreement. A clear demonstration of statesmanship, unlocking NATO & EU path.” Bushati wrote.

The Prime Minister of Albania congratulated the neighbouring country for the birthday of their name: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA. Heartfelt congratulations to Zoran Zaev and to everyone who fought for this historical moment”, Rama wrote.

The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, greeted the constitutional amends as an important step of hope and trust that the accession of Macedonia in NATO and the EU is on the right track.

The last one who reacted was the leader of the Democratic Party in opposition, Lulzim Basha, who also greeted the amends.
