Although Court of Tirana assigned the Gerdeci trial to hold its session
every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 09:30 am, the schedule has never been respected.
This is the first irregularity that one would note in this case. Sometimes the judge panel is absent; other times the lawyers of the 30 defendants. Even the 150th session of what looks more like a soap opera than a trial, today started one hour later.
The room where the trial is supposed to be held has turned into a newspaper reading room, until most parties will finally arrive. Despite these delays, the session is over only after 10 minutes, the necessary time for calling the names of the present parties.
The conclusion today was that 20 lawyers and 28 defendants were absent.
This was a normal day in the most important trial that the Albanian Court has in its hands for the moment.
