Vetting Law, Constitutional Court Judge has allegedly hidden financial sources

The first hearing session for the Vetting Law started with Fatos Lulo, who has served as Constitutional Court Judge for the past five years.

Lulo did not appear at the Independent Commission of Qualification but sent his defence lawyer.

After being vetted for his professional abilities, connections and assets, the suspicions fell only on the source of his wealth.

The High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets concluded that Fatos Lulo has made a fake declaration of his assets, as long as the source of his real-estate is unknown.

The inspectorate mentioned 100,000 USD that were donated to him by his sister, Drita Lulo; a 480,000 debt agreement for purchasing a home in Toronto, Canada.

There is another office donated by his sister, and also Lulo’s house in Tirana.

Lulo’s lawyer says that the judge has the same home that he bought through his work as lawyer for a decade, and the 100,000 EUR and the office donated by his sister.

The 480,000 Canadian USD loan was never taken, according to the lawyer.

“Her revenues are clean, same as the healthy sibling relation that they both have, very typically Albanian. If you call every judge as a ‘goulag’ then it is easy to talk about expensive gifts”, Visha said.
