Head of the executive, Edi Rama, during his speech at the meeting held with deputies and ministers, amomng other things criticized the work of the Tirana prosecutor’s office.

Rama said that the prosecutor’s office of Tirana has not taken any steps on 80 old cases of fiscal evasion where millions of euros of obligations have been avoided by people who are otherwise considered “oligarchs”.

“The SPAK special prosecutor’s office and the Tirana prosecutor’s office are physically less than 1 km apart, but they are yet different from each other. In SPAK, an account is required for every tender procedure, while in the prosecutor’s office of Tirana, tax evasion is protected. There are 80 cases. Now I’ve lost count. Cases that have been sleeping for years in the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana for fiscal evasion. Among those cases there are those who are otherwise called ‘oligarchs’, we have taken them. It is about hundreds of millions of euros avoided from tax obligations.

“Another justice in SPAK, another justice there in the prosecutor’s office of Tirana. There is no mountain of files that shakes the fiscal evasion that has sheltered the prosecutor’s office of Tirana” – said the Albanian prime minister.
