The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, honored this Thursday the former US
Ambassador to Tirana, John L.Withers, with the Key of Tirana.
In the ceremony, Veliaj expressed his highest evaluations for the US diplomat, saying that he has done a lot for Albania:
“I have the pleasure to hand over the Key of Tirana to the former US Ambassador, John L. Withers, who has criticized corruption and worked to help our country’s democracy even more than some of us”, Veliaj said.
The former ambassador said he is honored for the evaluation:
“I am honored that many Albanian friends have come to this ceremony. It is an honor to take the key of such a lovely city for me”, Withers said.
“In this ceremony there were diplomats, Albanian MPs and religious representatives.
