Rama: “Our coalition will appoint the President”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that the ambition expressed
by President Bujar Nishani is a lost time. “The President will be
elected by the Alliance for European Albania, and I think we will have
some choices”, Rama said.
“The President will be elected in 2017. I am the first party leader who demanded every political candidate to bring verify they have a clean criminal record. The attestation released by the police was the only way to prove it in 2013”, Rama said.
For Rama, the partnership with the SMI is strategic, a social necessity, since Albania has suffered when these two forces were not together.
“The partnership of the SP with the SMI is not my partnership with Ilir Meta. This is a strategic partnership that goes beyond us. It is a social necessity so that the progressive force of the left center can realize the reforms”, the PM declared.
