The President of Macedonia, Gjorgje Ivanov, has finally given up and
decided to authorize the new government led by Zoran Zaev, leader of the
Social Democratic Union of Macedonia.

Media outlets in Skopje report that Zaev is currently at the Presidency, waiting for the mandate, together with his Albanian partners.

This movement of Ivanov comes after a strong pressure from the international community; after the new majority voted the first Albanian Speaker, Talat Xhaferi; after they announced to Ivanov that they would resolve the stalemate through the Parliament, if he didn’t mandate Zaev.

Ivanov had requested guarantees that the new majority would preserve the state of Macedonia and respect the Constitution, while he kept opposing the platform of the Albanian parties, together with Zoran Zaev.
