Dutch ambassador: “10 times more asylum seekers in 2015”

The Ambassador of the Dutch Kingdom in Albania, Dewi Van de Weerd, spoke
about the refugee crisis and said that Europes is in a serious
situation, without many answers, but that require a solution.

She said that the crisis is a “stress-test” for the entire continent. The ambassador also expressed her concern about the high number of asylum seekers that have arrived in Netherlands during the past year.

“The number of asylum seekers during 2015 has increased with 10 times, compared to the past years. This situation has never been seen before. Albania is a safe country for us, an EU candidate, and all asylum-seekers will be returned”, she said.

When asked by Top Channel about the number of asylum seekers in Netherlands during 2015, Dewi van de Weerd said there have been 1050 asylum requests in 2015, compared to the 85 requests of 2014.

As for the terrorism issue, the Ambassador said that the anti-terror strategy that was built by Albania deserves to be taken as a model.
