“Kosovo gave us a democracy lesson regarding constitutionality and parliament behavior”, was analyst’s Lutfi Dervishi reaction about Kosovo’s Constitutional Court decision that nullified Behgjet Pacolli’s presidential election.

“Kosovo institutions are showing their integrity and independence for the second time. They did it with Sejdiu and now with Pacolli. Institutional integrity is very important for a new state like Kosovo’s”, Dervishi declared.

During an interview on Top Channel, Dervishi declared that Kosovo’s way of overcoming this matter maybe extremely important.

According to him, if the new President will not be elected on the second parliamentary session, early elections are going to take place and this will weaken the new Kosovo state.

“A new Presidential election procedure may soon take place in Kosovo’s Parliament. Kosovo will pass through an institutional crisis if they do not elect a new president. This would automatically trigger early elections, in such a short period after the recent ones. Internationals also did not want early elections, because early elections were the ones recently held. However, we must wait and see the successive decisions” Dervishi underlined.

The Albanian press analyst made a comparison between Albanian and Kosovan constitutional institutions, being skeptical on the independence of the Albanian ones under this political influence.

“We have powerful institutions in Tirana, but these are the political parties, the one on power and the opposition. Our constitutional institutions are growing up, but never have they shown their teeth. Institutions cannot be powerful without a political good will to make them stronger”, Dervishi added.
