Covid-19, government’s health experts: We are still far from schools’ opening

Health experts, representatives of the Coronavirus Task Force, estimate that it is still too early for students to return to school, as they pose a risk of transmission to adults and teaching staff.

The Ministry of Education told Top Channel the possible scenarios in this situation; Firstly, parents will be given the choice of whether they want their children to lose the year or repeat it, without any penalties. While it is predicted that the 9th and 12th grades will return to the classrooms, as an idea being considered to protect the school year, by holding the secondary school and matura exams.

“In case it is carried out, I take my school as a basis, based on the number of students that I have in the 9th grade, I’ll have to make all the classrooms available, to create the right safety conditions. In a regular classroom here we had 22 students, in the classroom based on the epidemic situation we are talking about 5 students in a classroom, so as to keep the two meters distance from student to student”, stated an education source.
