CEZ asks energy price increase

The request was made public by CEZ in a meeting that the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) held in Shkoder for improving the service quality to the client.

The application for an increase of the electric energy was made yesterday by CEZ, when the company asked ERE to review the request.

According to the CEZ Director of General Administration, Erideta Basha, the reasons that the company is asking a price increase are three:

“We asked an increase of 4.5%. Only recently the Bank of Albania announced an inflation growth of 3.6 %, which automatically affects the operative expenses of the company. The second reason is the increase of import prices for the electrical energy, and the third but not less important derives from the latest changes in the law for the electrical energy, which obliges CEZ to make periodical and initial verifications of the electricity meters. Naturally, these services are connected with additional fees and costs”, Basha declared.

ERE legal director, Eduard Elezi declared that for this request they will demand to monitor and verify all costs.

“It is too early. It is not what the companies ask for lowering or raising the energy price. The Regulatory Entity has approved the methods that present what is required in the final fee of the energy price. If the companies apply at ERE for increasing the Energy Price, we will verify and monitor everything they pretend of having completed, and all of them have the administrations for the next year”, Elezi declared.
