Tirana Mayor: “Happy that UN joined our appeal to donate two trees for every car they use”

Businesses and even foreign diplomatic sees have answered to the appeal of Mayor Erion Veliaj to donate trees for Tirana.
The UNDP has donated two trees for every car they use in Albania’s capital. These trees were planted at the Tirana Artificial Lake.
“I am happy that the UN and their staff joined us for planting trees at the Artificial Lake. We just created a new trail and we are planting trees along it. Our challenge was that whoever owned a car should plant two trees. We have taken two trees for every car that is being used by the UN”, Veliaj said.
The Mayor underlined that it is important for the Municipality of Tirana to keep this pace.
“If every business, company and foreign organization donates two trees to our city, they have also cleaned their conscience for using cars in Tirana”, Veliaj said.
The Mayor guaranteed that the Municipality will continue to plant trees for creating the Orbital Forest, to reach the goal of 2 million trees.
