The Socialist International expressed its concern regarding the political situation in Albania.

The biggest assembly of the most important international socialist organization, the Socialist International, was held this time in Athens, where they appealed for the end of the political crisis in Albania that has started since 2009.

The final resolution of the Socialist International says:

“The results of May 8th local elections showed a success of the Socialist Party, which won the biggest cities of the country. The Socialist International states that the decision taken by the Central Election Commission for recounting miscast ballots is not based on the Electoral Code of Albania, while the Electoral College has shown insecurity for this case”,

Albanian Socialist Party representative, Taulant Balla, presented what the Socialists consider as evidence that show the manipulation of these elections in Albania.

“We have presented in front of these EU high rank representatives and other member countries the evidence that show the manipulation of these elections during the counting process, and the attempts for trying to change the victory of the Socialist Party, which won all over Albania, on the table of the Central Election Commission. Socialist International greeted this victory and supported the stance of the Socialist Party for not accepting the manipulation. The Socialist International supported the victory of Edi Rama, as the entire world saw it, through a special resolution, so that the Electoral College ends its insecurity and brings justice by giving the victory to the Socialist Party and Edi Rama”, Balla declared.

Mr. Balla added that the victory of the Socialist Party is being stolen after the elections, and for this reason he informed SP international partners about the current situation in Albania.
