The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said the next 48 hours are the most
difficult for the Albanian capital, due to the heavy rains.

He inspected the measures taken at the Don Bosko area, which suffered severe floods.

“I invite citizens to be more cooperative with our cleaning workers and report problems. The emergency numbers are functional. Don’t build anything by the water. The moment we have a request for evacuation, we have all the infrastructure”, Veliaj declared.

Veliaj said the new budget foresees investments in 13 areas of Tirana, such as Don Bosko, Lapraka, etc.

“We have the biggest investments so far for the aqueduct and canalization that will start in 13 areas. You know that we built a new road with all necessary canalization. In this city with 1 million residents, our fates are tied. We need to cooperate without creating any panic. These will be difficult 48 hours, but we are here”, Veliaj said.
