Chameria Association launched the competition for the construction of a
memorial cemetery in Qafë Bot, where 2700 men, women and children lost
their lives during the tragic eviction from their lands.

The cemetery will be built at Kllogjer village, Saranda district, where the remains of more than 2000 Cham Albanians are resting in peace after losing their lives from fatigue, lack of food and water.

“This is an old dream and commitment of Chameria Patriotic Association, but also a great desire of the entire Cham population. We wanted a monumental cemetery for commemorating the thousands of innocent civilians who died in those areas and who deserve to be honored”, said Ardian Tana, head of the Association.

Artan Lame, the head of the jury, said that this cemetery would be a monument that commemorates the victims and that reminds the Greek genocide against Cham population.

“The desire for giving to the victims a final place to rest in peace, is the first element that draws us all, as human beings”, Lame declared.

The cemeteries are under the ownership of Chameria association. The architectural companies must present their projects until September 30th.
