Rome concerned about Albania

Latest events in Albania have been followed with a special attention by
the Italian Government. Italian Foreign Ministry released a
communication which emphasized that the head of diplomacy in Rome,
Franco Fratini, trusts that Albania will continue its path towards
Europe by showing responsibility and political maturity.

Rome congratulated the respective institutions for the correct voting process performed on May 8th, wishing them to continue their duty with efficacy and impartiality.

The communication advised political parties to implement moderate declarations and actions.

The Italian media has followed the latest events in Tirana, mainly focusing on Barroso’s visit cancellation and the post-election protests.
