The Prosecution General did not give an exact answer to the Voice of America, which inquired whether there will be any action against former Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla, after the US State Department decided to ban him from the USA for being involved with corruption cases.

“The Prosecution General prioritizes the moral and professional integrity of officials. The Albanian people expect and deserve officials to work with honesty and integrity for our public’s interest”, says the answer of the Prosecution General, adding that “their institution gives full support to all Prosecutors who work with dedication, dignity and integrity”, and that “they also support the decision for punishing anyone who violates the Rule of Law principles”, the Prosecution says.

Llalla is the first high-level official who is banned by the USA. Last week he gave up the right to become part of the Appeals Court, preferring to remain outside the Judiciary System. This decision brought the interruption of the Vetting process against him.

The US Ambassador to Tirana, Donald Lu, said that resignations will not remove blame from these former officials. Those who fear the Vetting Law should fear criminal punishments as well”, the US Ambassador declared.
