Foreign Minister Hasani visits Pristina, promises support and a “regional directorate for Albanians”

In his first visit abroad as Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani was today in Kosova, showing Albania’s commitment to lobbying for its membership in NATO and the EU.

Hasan’s visit comes as part of his Balkan tour at a time when security in the region is fragile.

The Albanian chief diplomat condemned the terrorist attack in Banjska in the north of Kosovo and promised strategies for revitalizing the process of international recognition for Kosovo, its membership in international organizations, integration in NATO.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania announced that facts have been presented from the international investigation that is being carried out on the terrorist attack in Banjska, but without giving details. Hasani reiterated the need for security in the region, and for Kosovo and Serbia to continue with the dialogue.

He further added that a special directorate will be opened for Albanians in the region, stressing that it is important that the Albanians themselves, as the most pro-European people, are at the center of peace in the Western Balkans.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora in Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla thanked the Foreign Minister of Albania for the cooperation.

“Mutual support, coordination and unification of our policies makes us strong in the international arena and brings results for citizens”, Gervalla stated.

Hasani has also met with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani and Speaker of Parliament Glauk Konjufca, while after Pristina, he will visit Skopje and Podgorica.
