Energy price review has officially started

Official data shown at the ERE show that the three companies want to increase the fee of the energy price. The Energy Corporation (KESH) wants to increase the price from 2.2 ALL per KW to 3.3 after January 1st.

KESH says that this increase will compensate the additional cost of energy that is bought by private hydropower plants and also loans in banks.

The Transmission System Operator wants an increase from 0.65 to 0.73 ALL per KW/h, while the Distribution Operator has requested to increase the price from 5 to 6.96 ALL per KW/h.

The final price for the consumer is the total of these fees, or 3.18 ALL per KWh.

This would send the price from 9.53 to 12.7 KWh. Companies have requested to increase prices even in the past, except for the past three years.

But the final decision of the ERE has always been different from their requests. The decision for the new energy price will be taken in the next month.

The representatives of the IMF mission who have just arrived in Tirana held a meeting with the leaders of ERE. Their main topic seems to have been the discussion about the prices.

ERE and the government warned that they would unify the energy price by removing the price limit of 300 KWh.

This will bring a price increase for those families that have paid less. But the government says that the 204.000 families will be compensated with 700 ALL per month.
