Consequences of floods in districts

The recent floods have caused huge damages in Albania and have placed
many people’s lives in danger. Besides Lezhe, the financial damage are
huge also in Lushnje, Fier, Berat, Elbasan and Kukes.

Fier

The blocked drainage canals have put in risk the lives of Libofshe residents in Fier. The water entered inside houses within a matter of minutes. Residents say they were only able to save themselves and their children, and couldn’t protect the cattle and properties.

Lushnje
Huge damage were noticed in Allkaj, Kolonje and Fiershegan villages. Water has flooded dozens of houses and thousands of hectares of agricultural lands. The damage in greenhouses are huge and some areas are still without electricity. The lack of draining canals caused the flooding of these villages.

Berat
Huge agricultural areas have been destroyed in Berat too, especially in the Berat-Skrapar road, in Samatice, Gorican, Hinke, Kutalli and Frasher. One farmer says that there are more than 30-40 hectares around his farm that have been damaged due to the lack of maintenance in the draining system.

Kukës
The Emergency Headquarters in Kukes declared that the rains have caused landslides and huge damage in the Cernaleva village, Shishtavec commune, while the Dushaj-Lekbibaj road was blocked. Some residents in Has don’t have electricity.

Elbasan
In Elbasan there have been damage in Gramsh, in buildings and agricultural lands. The situation in some national roads is also problematic due to landslides. The Zaranika stream in Elbasan might also go outside its bed and cause floods.
