Members of the civil society will collect this Saturday
signatures for a petition in favor of the judiciary reform and the
vetting law. In the meanwhile, next week is essential for establishing the
respective vetting institutions.

50 most renowned civil society organizations have come together in this initiative and sent a letter to Albania’s most important politicians and embassies.

The civil society, led by the Soros foundation, appealed politicians to accelerate the implementation of the Vetting law, which is a condition for opening Albania’s EU accession negotiations.

The organizations appeal parties to not allow their party agendas and electoral calculations to be mixed with the strategic priority, which is Albania’s European path.

Since more than 90% of citizens want a quick implementation of the judiciary reform, the civil society asked politics to show responsibility and integrity.

The founders of this initiative say that Albanian citizens deserve a professional judiciary, not corrupted and independent. Fixing this system starts with the Vetting Process.

“Blocking this process means blocking the country’s European future and development. The judiciary reform starts with the Vetting Law. The vote for the Vetting Law is your duty as representatives of the will of your electors”, the civil society declared.
