HPP tender in Drin i zi, DP: “A farce!”

The government has officially opened the tender for giving in concession the Katund i Ri power plant over the Black Drin river.

“The procedure for the unrequested proposition, based on the law of concessions, was announced a few days ago. There is a 54 day deadline which will end on July 11th. For us it is important to have a right investor who carries out the project by bringing what we expect from this project”, says Koli Bele, General Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Industry.

But the opposition accused that the tender is a farce, since, they say, the government has already chosen the Turkish companies “Suzer Group” and “Nurol Holding” through a corruptive pact.

“The truth is that we have to do with a pact that has been requested time ago, with illegal and private negotiations through Edi Rama and Arben Ahmetaj, who has went to dozens of luxury trips with charter airplanes. Suzer and every other company have been warned by the Democratic Party that the Skavica corruption will be undone”, said the Secretary for Public Relations at the Democratic Party, Grida Duma.

The Ministry rejected the accusations and said that the concession has respected the law. The Katund i Ri hydropower plant will cost 95 million EUR and its construction starts next year.
