The presidential candidate elected recently by the majority, Bujar
Nishani, was born on 29 September 1966. Nishani was born in Durres and
finished the Skenderbej Military Academy.
He ended the post-graduate studies in USA, 1996, and from 2000-2004 ended the studies in Tirana’s Law Faculty. His CV includes a master for European studies.
His professional activity starts in 1998, as professor of the “Skenderbej” Military Academy, in 1993, as specialist of external relations with the Ministry of Defense, in 1994 as specialist of the relations with NATO at the Foreign Ministry, for returning one year later as Minister of Defense.
After 1997 he worked as a freelance until 2007, when he became Minister of Interior. Two years later he became Minister of Justice and returned as Minister of Interior in 2011.
He has been a Democratic Party since 1991 and member of the National Council of this party. Mr. Nishani is married to Mr. Odeta and they have two children.
