The second meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Italy, Albania and Serbia is being held today in Tirana.

The Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentilioni, and the Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, were received today in Tirana by their Albanian counterpart, Ditmir Bushati.

The Ministers discussed the EU agenda of Albania, measures to prevent the refugee crisis and coordination for some security challenges.

The two Ministers focused on the intensification of the economic cooperation, for which the Albanian Foreign Minister reminded the Italian counterpart of the commitment to remove transportation tax.

This was a promise of the Italian Prime Minister during his visit in Tirana, but that has not been realized so far by the government of his country.

In the meeting with the Serbian counterpart, Minister Bushati reiterated the need for Serbia to implement the agreements between the two countries during the meetings of  the respective Prime Ministers.

Serbia and Albania had agreed in principle for the economic agreement, free movement and education agreement. So far, the agreements with the Serbian party have not been realized yet.

The meeting between the three countries is an initiative of Italy, undertaken one year ago. This is the second meeting after the first one in Rome.

Italy saw the need to negotiate and intensify the relations between Albania and Serbia, as two EU aspiring countries.
