Tirana municipal councillors ready to replace Kosovrasti

After the unification of the Socialist Movement for Integration with the
Socialist Party even in local level, the left councillors of the Tirana
Municipality Council, now a majority, will gather next Monday to remove
the Democratic Party Chairman of Council, Njazi Kosovrasti, to replace
him with the Socialist Party councillor Aldrin Dalipi.

The right winged councillors are expected to ve absent in tomorrows meeting. Ferdinand Poni, head of the right winged councillors, declared on a phone conversation with Top Channel that he has not been notified. But the Council Secretary, Behar Zeneli, from the Socialist Movement for Integration, says that all councillors have been notified.

“We have asked the meeting to take the direction of the council. We respected the legal terms and waited for an answer from Kosovrasti, but there was nothing from him. Kosovrasti and Mayor Basha are trying to withhold the Council for as long as possible”, Dalipi declared.

The meeting can be summoned by 13rd of the councillors, and if the chairman is absent, it will be led by the oldest member and the secretary of the Municipal Council.

As regards Basha’s attempts to postpone this meeting, he denied everything on an interview for Top Channel.

“There’s nothing true about these accusations. I will not become part of accusations that are trying to shift the municipality’s attention on the political war”, Basha declared.

The Socialist Party and Socialist Movement for Integration head councillors say that this meeting will be held tomorrow and the Tirana Prefect will be legitimized within 10 days. According to them, the new majority cannot block the approval of projects that are for the citizens’ interest.
