After the EU Ambassador to Tirana, the US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu,
declared that the disabled people need more attention and more of their
rights should be respected, in order to create equal chances in
education and employment.
“The protection of the disabled people’s rights should go beyond party limits. A key concept is the creation of partnerships, since they help the progress for treating the remaining challenges, such as infrastructure, inequality in education, public awareness and stigmatization. We are here today because we do not want to listen to words, but to find a solution. The care for the disabled people is a progress for every Albanian”, Arvizu declared.
The US Ambassador was invited in an activity about the training courses of disabled people, supported by USAID, which is developing a project that aims to encourage the employment of the disable people. 23 of them have been employed, and 67 other have been assisted in their professional training courses, to become part of the job market. Minsiter Spiro Ksera says that a priority of the Ministry is their employment.
Although Albania has a law for encouraging the employment of disabled people, very few of them have been employed.
