The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, considered the religious
co-existence in our country as a challenge of our society that should be
passed to the next generations.

Nishani was invited at the Scientific Conference “Religious Harmony, Value of the Albanian National Heritage”.

“The religious co-existence is a challenge that is very present in our modern times. The cultural and religious co-existence issue is maybe one of the most important challenges that our world is facing today, thanks to the globalization process”, Nishani declared.

The head of the Muslim Community, Haji Selim Muca, appealed that this value of our society must be preserved and must transmit religious harmony through the years.

“Religious harmony is not something formed in the modern times, but a tradition that comes from the past centuries, and it should be preserved and passed to the next generations”, Muca declared.

The catholic representative valued the role of the Albanian governments for this religious harmony that makes the Albanian people stand up among other countries.

“Albania has never had political leaders who used religion for political attacks. The Albanian governments, after the fall of communism, were wise enough to insist that Albania is a secular country that respects all religions with equal dignity”, declared the Secretary of the Episcopal Conference, Gjergj Frendo.

The Korca Metropolitan, his Eminence John, appealed the religions in Albania to reinforce dialogue so that they cannot be used by politics to encourage conflicts.

“It is important for religions, in order to be always against violence and intolerance, and to strengthen dialogue and cooperation, closing this way all chances to propaganda and trends that encourage hate and divisions”, he added.

The Scientific Conference was held by the Albanologic Studies Center for promoting the values of the Albanian people.
