The Socialist MP was fined with 30.000 ALL by the Civil Court for moral
damage caused against the Minister of Innovation, Technology and
Information, Genc Pollo.
Judge Bledar Abdullai declared that Pollo’s suit is partially accepted, and from 1 million ALL of fine, it has been reduced to 30.000. But this fine is not for economic reasons, but as a punishment. The Court says that Balla has caused moral damages to Minister Pollo, by negatively influencing the public opinion.
The defensive lawyer reacted by accusing the court of having double standards and that such decisions are taken only for the opposition, while when the majority makes such comments, they consider them opinions.
Taulant Balla reacted from the Socialist Party headquarters, saying that this decision was cooked in Berisha’s house. Balla used some irony saying that the court valued Pollo’s dignity with 30.000 ALL.
“I was punished today by the court because I said that the roads of Albania have been damaged by a company that has no license or permit. Are our roads damaged or not? Was the Nation’s Road damaged to put a optic fiber cable? Why did Genc Pollo withdraw from licensing this network that would bring 12 million EUR to the state? Why don’t they let the Prosecution investigate this corruption case? The Albanians will judge this on the June 23rd elections”, Balla declared.
Minister Pollo reacted by saying that although the fine is not discouraging for other slanderers like Balla, the sum will go to the Albanian Red Cross.
