The MPs of the ruling majority at the Commission of Economy authorized
Chairman Erjon Brace to ask the Conference of Chairmen to start
discharging procedures for the General Inspector of the Bank of Albania.
The decision was taken after Elivar Golemi refused for the second time to give explanations to the Commission, using the same arguments of one day ago.
“The absurd thing is that she doesn’t want to answer, because she doesn’t represent the Bank, and on the other hand she says she is ready to answer in a written form, as soon as possible”, Brace says.
Golemi argued that she cannot testify in the Commission because she is not allowed by law. Brace explained that they never asked any member of the Bank of Albania to testify, but to explain the situation.
He adds that the Parliament has the right to summon for a hearing session, based on Article 83 of the Constitution.
The Commission considered her refusal as a violation of the Constitution, of ethics and of the Bank interests.
The MPs say that articles 54 and 47 of the law for the Bank of Albania allow the Parliament to start the procedures for discharging Mrs.Golemi, who has been leading the Inspection Department at the Bank of Albania for several years.
