Lulzim Basha welcomed Sali Berisha at the entrance of the new Democratic
Party headquarters, before the first meeitng of the Democratic Party
Parliamentary Group as opposition – an opposition that has selected only
the party leader through votes from the leadership, and which in the
next week will start all the new structures in the party.
According to the current status, one of the party leaders is the Parliamentary group leader, but the new opposition looked over this handicap and appointed an ad interim leadership for the Parliament representation, until the construction of the new party structure will come to an end.
Although Parliament Member Sokol Olldashi considered this an anti-statutory act, during the behind-closed meeting, it was decided that Edi Paloka would lead the parliamentary group, Eduart Halimi will be its vice leader, Gent Strazimiri will be the Party Secretary and Jorida Tabaku will be the spokesperson of the parliamentary group.
The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, pointed out that the Democratic Party is committed for a strong opposition and without compromises, in order to protect the country’s interests.
“I want to reiterate that we will not be the opposition that only tries to speculate and throw mud on the government’s image, and there will be no verbal violence. We will be the opposition of facts and judgements, the opposition of reasonings. Our parliamentary group will be the just voice in every meeting. We will be a realistic and powerful voice of the Albanian opposition in Parliament”, Basha declared.
Mr.Basha described the new opposition as the voice that will rise at every moment to prove every broken promise of the new majority.
“An absolute priority of our group will be the monitoring of the promises that the new majority has done to the electors in exchange of their vote. I want to guarantee the new government that they will never find peace from us as regards the keeping of promises. We will not allow no more electoral lies for votes. Whoever breaks promises will have to face consequences”, Basha declared.
The Democratic Party leader underlined that the Democratic Party will cooperate without conditions with the new government for the European Union integration pathy.
“Different from what Edi Rama did with the European candidate status of Albania, our political DNA is to find unconditioned consensus for every law and act that goes in favor of the European integration of Albania”, and this is something that we declare today in front of all Albanians”, Basha declared.
Lulzim Basha is not part of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party in opposition, but he believes that with the necessary experience and dedication, this group, although small in numbers, will hold the main burden of the third opposition of the Democratic Party, since the creation of pluralism in Albania.
