The Tirana University Rectorate and the Ministry of Education answered
positively to the request of the Nuclear Physics Center, to return it to
the Scientific Research Institute.
The head of the Tirana State University, Dhori Kule, proposed to establish a Customs task for every verification that the experts of this institution will carry out.
“We will ask the state structures and the Ministry of Finances that when goods that pass the Customs need verifications and licenses from this institute, there should be an obligatory charge for the obligation of all customs-passing process”, Kule declared.
The Head of this Institution, Nikolla Civici, declared that in the next year this institution will start the implementation of a project of national significance, so that Albania will not turn to a transit country for nuclear substances.
“The first reason of this fee is for the training of Customs officers, who will check the products on the border checkpoints, and the second reason is for the testing and calibration of appliances that can detect radioactive substances in customs checkpoints. Customs have some equipments installed. The third reason is in case of an alarm, which eliminates Albania’s chances to turn into a nuclear weapon traffic country”, Civici declared.
The United States embassy supported the experts’ request for returning a Nuclear Physics center at the Scientific Research Institute, since the monitoring for nuclear radiation in the goods exchange process has a national significance.
