Dozens of children were reported missing during the pas four years, some
of whom have not been found yet. On the international day of Missing
Children, civil society asked the attention of all state structures.
The weak point of the state still remain the way how searches are handled, and also the lack of a national register for traffickers, exploiters and abusers.
“‘Alo 116 000’, on the International Day of Missing Children, asks all responsible institutions to be more serious and intensify the searches for finding the lost children in Albania. We ask the creation of a standard procedure to define the term ‘missing child’. They should have a clear procedure that takes this term from ‘runaway child’, in ‘missing child’ and then to ‘disappeared child. The cases of runaway children should be treated with more emergency and they should be declared missing within six hours. We need to create a national register for traffickers, exploiters and child abusers in Albania”, declared Altin Hazizaj, director of CRCA.
At least 800 children or 4% of them confirm that they see running away from their families as a solution to their problems. The case of Julian, Bleona and many other children show how parents should be more careful to prevent this phenomenon.
