Malaj: I run for the Socialist electorate

Left outside the Socialist Party lists, Malaj gave a press conference in which he thanked his supporters and considered the decision to run independently as very difficult.

“Certainly that this decision gives me a high responsibility and time will be the best judge. The mandate won by this commitment will serve only to the Socialists but also to make the Socialist Party a winner, and defend it from the neodictatorial tendencies, which brought to this party a cost of eight years in opposition”, Malaj declared.

Top Channel was the first to announce that Malaj would run independently, before the meeting of the Socialist Party leadership. This fact was not denied by Malaj before the meeting. This was Malaj’s answer, when he was asked why he took this decision.
“Certainly that I took this decision as soon as I knew about the list. On the other hand, there were people who are very loyal to Rama had been swearing for some time now that they would eliminate me from politics. Because of the experience and the the obligation that I have for the Albanian people, I certainly was prepared for this action that I consider as helpful for the Albanian socialists”.

For Fatos Nano, joining on this case was only something based on principle. He also spoke against Rama and declared that the Albanians should be once and for all free from the dark clans of the Albanian politics.

“It is clear that the reason why I am supporting Arben Malaj is just a commitment based on principles. There’s nothing dark in my relations with the people who have been elected fro several mandates under the Socialist Party leaderships and governments, such as Malaj or Islami. If the vote of the Vlora Socialists would go to Arben Malaj and not to Koco Kokedhima, this is Rama’s fault, not ours”, Nano declared.
