Health Minister Halim Kosova was very direct with the pharmaceutical
distributors in saying that they will not use corruptive methods to win
the government tenders or to block the competing companies in the
market.
He said that the procedures will be transparent, and the medicine will not enter illegally and with higher prices, due to the abuses.
“All pharmaceutical firms should have it very clear that they will not need any corruptive method to bring medicine in the Albanian market, not to create easier access to themselves and not to block the competition, by increasing this way the prices and the population supply”, Kosova declared.
The Health Minister declared that he has information that many medicaments are produced in Albania and are packed somewhere else. He declared that these companies will be punished. On the other hand, he promised that there will be other solutions for the registration of medicine, for their import and the double tax. Kosova declared that the state is inspecting the many pharmacies that are open everywhere lately.
“There’s a very huge number of pharmacies. There used to be a rule about this. However, I promise that there will be inspections to see if they are competing within the rules”, Kosova declared.
“Illiterate” pharmacists
The President of the Pharmacists Order, Arjan Jaupllari, declared that the private universities that are producing fake pharmacists should be stopped. He said that more than half of the candidates were unable to pass the State Exam.
“The level of students coming from private universities is very low. We asked that the State Test limit should go from 50 to 70 points, so that we can make a better selection. I think that there are many pharmacists and we should stop diplomas given from private universities”, Jaupllari declared.
245 candidates State Test participated in the state test this year, and only 117 passed. Those who failed come mostly from private universities.
