After the doctors’ protest, the construction works that would demolish a
small park within the hospital to turn it into a parking lot have been
interrupted.
Health minister Halim Kosova declared that the agreement and the entire documentation will be sent to the Supreme State Audit to verify violations.
Doctors also raise the concern of parking and traffic within the hospital premises.
“This hospital, at first glance looks more like a commercial center. There is very heavy traffic and the little park near the rooms of patients who undergo operations should not be demolished, because the environment would be polluted with gases, and noises could interfere with the information block appliances”, says the Service Chief, Nikollaq Kacani.
Sources close to the directory say that the company that is carrying out the works for the parking has won a tender held by the Ministry of Economy on November 2012, while the agreement has been signed on March 2013.
The Hospital Directory has established a working group for finding a common solution to the problem that promises to be very difficult. Doctors also report the increased number of bars within the hospital territory.
“Our hospital has more chairs in bars than beds for the sick patients. This is very unfortunate. We invite the gentlemen who will take over the new government to turn their eyes to the hospital center”, Kacani declared.
