Holiday goers flock the Adriatic

04/05/2013 00:00

The high temperatures and the weekend have brought a high number of
beach goers to Durres and other Adriatic beaches, especially from
Tirana, Kosovo and Macedonia.

The traffic was heavy in the first morning hours, although the winter prints are still visible on beaches. Businesses have quickly started cleaning the sand in private beaches, although the local administration has not given a permission yet.

The sand is expected to be cleaned and disinfected in the next days, so that the beach can be ready for the official tourist season, which has not started yet.

Although the implant for the sewage waters is at work, the lack of public hydro-sanitary joints has not been resolved even this season.

This is the first weekend of May and the Durres Municipality has not passed the decisions at the council. With obstacles such as the lack of funds, beach goers will still not have public bathrooms near the beaches.
