Upon the request of Prime Minister Berisha to develop a normative act to publish the names of entities that defraud the quality and quantity of fuel, the Ministry of Economy stated that such an act is unnecessary and that there are all the legal spaces for these subjects to become public.

“Project-act has been prepared by the General Directorate of Metrology and after legal consultation, METE believes that the legal framework in force, the law on metrology and inspection has necessary spaces, even bears the legal obligation that the results should be made public in the best interests of customer,” said Deputy Economy Eno Bozdo.

Number two of the ministry, also said that article five of the law on metrology expected publication of the results of the search and does not affect data considered confidential.

A few days ago, Metrology Department has stated that they fined a total value of 10.5 million Lekë, 14 subjects after being found to have cheated with the amount of fuel they sell to consumers.

After that, this department has not published the names of sham entities on grounds that this information should be made within the limits of the law on data protection to the business of the entity.

But, after this reaction by the Ministry of Economy, it belongs to metrology representatives to be transparent with consumers by publishing the names of entities that defraud consumers.
