Four people have been arrested by the Fier Police, with the Director of
the Nitrogen Plant in Fier, after being accused of stealing the metal
parts of the plant for scrap.
A blitz operation of the Fier police arrested the Director, Ferdinan Doksani; Julian Hoxha, lawyer at the same institution; Ali Licaj, responsible for the security guards and Sotiraq Llazi, responsible for the storage.
The four suspects are charged of power abuse and theft. The scandal of the Fier Nitrogen Plant was made public by Top Channel, which showed how thousands of tons of metal parts were disappeared by the new plant urea plant that worked was operative for only a few months.
Top Channel reported with video footage how the great quantities of metal were transported to the Metallurgic Factory in Elbasan.
A tender cancelled by the Procurement Agency preceded the theft, but however, the Ministry of Economy seems to have an agreement with Kurum International, the metallurgic company.
Other persons have used the documents of this company for buying cheaper scrap than the one that Kurum buys to people who in fact are the real exploiters of this agreement.
